About A Gypsy’s Edge

Hello, I’m Anna.

A Gypsy’s Edge is my creative and professional home — the umbrella under which PlayFest Retreat and Breathwork with Anna live and evolve. It is both a body of work and a way of life shaped by curiosity, movement, science, nature, and lived experience.

The name reflects a lifelong relationship with edges — between land and sea, science and intuition, structure and play, solitude and community. It emerged not as a brand strategy, but as a natural expression of a life lived in motion.

Where it began

I began my career in conservation biology, guided by a deep care for the natural world. A planned three-month solo trip became six years of travel, work, and immersion across Africa, the Americas, Indonesia, and Australia. Those years reshaped everything — how I related to my body, to people, to place, and to purpose.

Along the way, I became a dive master, dancer, fire performer, yoga practitioner, and lifelong student of movement and culture. Each experience added a layer, but it wasn’t until I turned inward — back home to my own body — that the deeper work began.

Coming home to the body

Years of exploration eventually revealed what travel alone could not: the body holds memory, wisdom, and a language of its own.

Through personal therapy, embodiment practices, and study, I discovered breathwork — not as a trend, but as a practical, powerful tool for self-regulation, emotional clarity, and nervous system resilience. My background in science shaped how I approached it: curious, experimental, observant.

In 2019, I undertook a month-long self-study using daily breathwork practices, tracking physical and emotional responses to stress. What emerged was a clear understanding of how breath could bridge awareness and action — helping us meet life with greater steadiness and choice.

From practice to community

When lockdowns began in 2020 due to a global pandemic, breathwork moved from a personal practice into a shared one. Friends, housemates, and their wider circles gathered — first casually, then with growing intention. These gatherings naturally expanded into weekends of movement, breath, play, and time in nature.

In October 2021, supported by the trust and encouragement of friends and family, I committed fully. PlayFest Retreat was born — not from perfection, but from momentum, accountability, and heart. The first retreat sold out in January 2022, followed by another later that year, affirming the need for spaces that are intimate, skills-based, and deeply human.

Since then, I have continued to refine my work, becoming a certified Master Breathwork Instructor and expanding into retreats, events, and one-to-one offerings.

What A Gypsy’s Edge stands for

A Gypsy’s Edge is a living expression of everything I’ve learned — and continue to learn — about connection.

My aim is to inspire and continue to be inspired.

While my roots are in environmental conservation, my focus now includes inner ecology: helping people reconnect with their breath, bodies, creativity, and sense of belonging. Because when we feel connected within ourselves, we tend to live with greater care for each other and the world we inhabit.

Breathwork, play, and nature are the core tools I work with — simple, ancient, and profoundly effective when practiced with intention.

This is not about fixing ourselves.

It’s about remembering what’s already here.

A quiet invitation

My hope is simple:

That by meeting yourself more honestly today,

tomorrow feels a little more alive.

That meaning and mystery can coexist.

That not everything needs to matter —

until something does.

That moment is yours to recognise.

I look forward to crossing paths with you.

With love and awe,

Anna x
